About Word of Life International Church

In October 1989, Pastor Kenneth Ferguson, having just relocated from New York to Georgia, and with a passion for winning souls for the Lord, started house to house prayer meetings along with weekly Thursday night Bible studies. On February 4th, 1990 the vision took the mission to an unlikely location where we could all meet together. The location was known at the time as the Sensational Club, (now known as Mama’s Club) located on Covington Highway where the first Sunday morning service with 21 faithful worshipers including children was held. A week later, Sunday school commenced.

Soon after occupying that space, the ownership of the club changed and our services were no longer permitted on the grounds and as such, the church temporarily joined in worship with the brethren at Hairston Road Church of God. Shortly thereafter, services were moved to a night club in a retail complex on Columbia Drive in Decatur, Georgia where the church was officially established. On July 1, 1990, Columbia New Testament Church of God was birthed where 12 new members were welcomed.

As the congregation grew so did the vision to finding its own building, and a search ensued and God provided a location at 4113 Church Street in Clarkston, Georgia which was purchased on August 19, 1992 and Clarkston New Testament Church of God triumphed for the next thirteen years. However, soon after the church outgrew that space and a search to find a more accommodating building ensued and the church sold its Clarkston property on June 14, 2005 and its current property purchased on June 30, 2005.

The church excitedly settled into its new location on July 3, 2005 as Word of Life New Testament Church of God after a motorcade from Clarkston to Tucker. Just over 9 years later on November 26, 2014, the church’s name changed to what is now known as Word of Life International Church of God (WOLICOG).

After serving for over 55 years in Ministry, our founder, Pastor Dr. Kenneth Ferguson retired in December 2021. Today, Pastor Kenneth Hanson Jr now serves as Senior Pastor as he shepherds his flock to Find Christ, Follow Christ and to Function in Christ.

To God be the Glory!
